FAQ
An evaporative cooler is a roof mounted unit that cools your home by pulling fresh outside air through moisture laden pads. As the air passes over the water in the pads it cools down, and the unit pushes that fresh, cooled air through ducts into your home. Unlike refrigerated air conditioning it doesn’t recirculate the same air, so you can keep windows or doors slightly open while it runs.
Evaporative cooling works best in hot, dry heat, which is exactly what Perth’s summers deliver. It cools large, open homes with constant fresh air and generally costs less to run than refrigerated air conditioning. Because we live and work locally, we also know how the salt laden air near the coast affects roof units, and we service and repair them with that in mind.
Because we are a proudly local family owned business residing in the Rockingham and Mandurah region, we can often arrive within the hour or offer immediate same day service. We prioritise broken cooling systems during heatwaves to ensure your family remains comfortable.
You should contact us for repairs if you notice the system is blowing warm air, emitting foul musty odours, leaking water down your roof, making loud grinding or banging noises, or failing to respond to the wall controller.
To ensure optimal performance and hygienic air quality, manufacturers strongly recommend servicing evap coolers at least once a year. The ideal time to book is during spring, ensuring your system is fully prepared and calibrated before the intense summer heatwaves arrive.
If your unit is over 10 to 15 years old, requires frequent repairs, struggles to blow cool air, or has severe corrosion on the exterior casing, it is likely time for an upgrade. A modern replacement will provide vastly superior energy efficiency and cooling performance.
